William was born on January 7th, 1789 in Fauquier, VA.  William's father was George Jones and his mother was Mary Rhodes.  His paternal grandparents were Solomon Jones and Elizabeth Neville. He had seven brothers and a sister, named George, James, Tholemiah, Solomon, Samuel, John, Daniel and Letitia.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 67 on May 14th, 1856 in Gullions Branch, Henry, VA.
