Ahirah was born on July 15th, 1811 in Rowan County, North Carolina.  Ahirah's father was Joseph Clifford and his mother was Susannah Wells.  His paternal grandparents were John Clifford and Rachel Gray; his maternal grandparents were James Wells and Rachel Horn. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Micajah , James, John, Green, Abner , Addison, Rachel , Elizabeth, Matilda and Susannah.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 75 on August 29th, 1886 in Berdan, Greene County, IL.
