Edmund was born about 1442 in Of, Badley, Suffolk, England.  Edmund's father was Simon (Symon) POLEY and his mother was Margaret (Margery) ALCOCKE.  His paternal grandparents are Richard POLEY and Margaret (Mary) BLYANT; his maternal grandfather is Edmund ALCOCKE. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Henry, George, Simon, Thomas, Margery, Elizabeth, Anne and Isabell.
