Julianna's father was Benedek Nagy and her mother was Mária Anna Somogyi.  Her paternal grandparents were Mihály Nagy and Judit Nádasdy. She had a brother and two sisters, named Lajos, Mária and Anna.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had nine half-brothers named Pál, Ádám, József, Mátyás, Antal, István, Zsigmond, Ignác and Antal.
