István was born on December 18th, 1729 in Fertőszentmiklós.1  István's father was Pál Nagy and his mother was Judit Kecskés.  His paternal grandparents were Pál Nagy and Margit Landor. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Pál, Dániel, Sándor, Boldizsár, Antal, József, Imre, Mária, Mária, Mária and Mária.  He was the oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 81 in 1810 in Sopron.2
