Frances, known as Fanny, was born in Wynott St, West End, QLD. Fanny's father was Charles William Groom and her mother was Caroline Beatrice Walker. Her paternal grandparents were George Groom and Kezia (Lisa) Plumb; her maternal grandparents were William Barnabas Walker and Fanny Frances Gates. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Charlie, Bert, Beattie, Alice, Myra and Bobby.-
