Karl was born on May 29th, 1839 in Pfortzheim, Alemania. Karl's father was 151 Christian Karl Hepp Dietrich and his mother was Emma Karoline Dittler. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Wilhelm, Adolf, Robert, Otto, Hermann, Gustav, Reinhard Georg, Marie and Emilie. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 86 on May 2nd, 1926 in Pfortzheim, Alemania.

Hepp" Hoy en día la fábrica pertenece a la muy conocida y prestigiada firma VMF, que mantiene la marca Hepp.
