Carl was born on March 9th, 1899 in Alto, Georgia.  Carl's father was John Jefferson Martin and his mother was Vetta  Victoria Grant (Martin).  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Marion Martin CSA ((CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA)) and Matilda C Warren (Martin); his maternal grandparents are Thomas Benton Grant and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Roy, John, Thomas, Grace, Clara, Ora and Hazel.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 49 on August 28th, 1948.  His burial was in Level Grove Cemetary.
