Mourning was born in 1756 in Virginia.  Mourning's father was Charles Christian Jr.  and her mother was Mary Leake (Christian).  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Christian Snr. and Elizabeth Hunt (Christian). She had seven brothers and three sisters, named John, 2nd LT Elijah, Charles, The Ghost, The Shadow, William, Walter, George , Elizabeth , Mary and Judith. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William, Lucy and Judith.  She died at the age of 81 on July 7th, 1837 in Amherst County Virginia.
