Allen, known as Allen, was born on February 19th, 1890.  Allen's father was Elijah BELL and his mother was Nora Ella CARODISKEY.  His paternal grandparents were Montgomery BELL and Catharine BATDER; his maternal grandparents are Enos CARODISKEY and Anna GEARHART. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Fredrick, Jesse, Theodore, Miles, Robert, Grace, Mabel and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
