Rosa Alva was born on July 18th, 1862 in Tippah, Mississippi, USA. Rosa Alva's father was Brightwell Rather Elder and her mother was Lucinda Elviney Gammel. Her maternal grandparents were Stephen Pate Gammel and Mary Ann Runnels. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, William L B, Columbus McNeer, William Harrison Hendricks, James Buchanan, Robert Dixie, Mary Ann, Sarah Ann and Lula Ann. She was the third youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 1 on October 13th, 1863 in Tippah, Mississippi, USA.-
