Willie was born in 1888 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.1   Willie's father was James Argent and his mother was Eliza E Smith.  His paternal grandparents were George Argent and Emily Mann.  He had two brothers and eight sisters, named John, Walter, Sarah, Aletha, Laura, Emma, Elizabeth, Kate, Mary J and Nellie.  He was the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
