Frederick The 3. was born on April 14th, 1699.  Frederick The 3.'s father was Duke Frederick The 2. of House Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and his mother was Princess Magdalena Augusta of House Ascania.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Frederick The 1. of House Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and Duchess Magdalena Sibylle of House Saxe-Weissenfels. He had a brother and a sister, named John August and Augusta.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 72 on March 10th, 1772.
