Augusta was born on November 30th, 1719.  Augusta's father was Duke Frederick The 2. of House Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and her mother was Princess Magdalena Augusta of House Ascania.  Her paternal grandparents were Duke Frederick The 1. of House Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and Duchess Magdalena Sibylle of House Saxe-Weissenfels. She had two brothers named Frederick The 3. and John August.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died at the age of 52 on February 8th, 1772.
