Yona was born in 1905. Yona's father was Yehuda Ziffer and his mother was Rachel ?. His paternal grandparents were Yaakov Zvi Ziffer and Henna Yenta Graup. He was the oldest of six children. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Michael, Zvi, Moshe, Ester and Rivka. He died, at the age of 37, in 1942 due to murder / assassination.
