Pere was born on May 3rd, 1862 in El Palau d'Anglesola (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya. and his baptism took place on May 4th, 1862 at El Palau d'Anglesola (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya. Església de Sant Joan Baptista conducted by Joan Pons (Ecònom).  His godfather was Pere Santandreu (casat) d'El Palau and his godmother was Cecília Gou (donzella) d'El Palau.  Pere's father was Gabriel Fontanet Farnell and his mother was Magdalena Gou Llobera.  His paternal grandparents were Pau Fontanet Yyyy and Rosa Farnell Yyyy; his maternal grandparents were Jaume Gou Yyyy and Maria Llobera Yyyy. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Jaume, Gerònim, Josep, Nnnn and Rosa.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
