Jaume was born on July 9th, 1859 in El Palau d'Anglesola (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya. and his baptism took place on July 10th, 1859 at El Palau d'Anglesola (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya. Església de Sant Joan Baptista conducted by Dean Agustí Espel.  His godfathers were Jaume Gou (avi matern, casat) d'El Palau and his godmother was Maria Santandreu (casada) d'El Palau.  Jaume's father was Gabriel Fontanet Farnell and his mother was Magdalena Gou Llobera.  His paternal grandparents were Pau Fontanet Yyyy and Rosa Farnell Yyyy; his maternal grandparents were Jaume Gou Yyyy and Maria Llobera Yyyy. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Pere, Gerònim, Josep, Nnnn and Rosa.  He was the oldest of the six children.
