Christina Waelz (Welz)

Christina was born on May 19th, 1849 in Brienne, Bessarabia, Russia (now Ukraine).¹ Christina's father was Gottlieb Waelz and her mother was Anna Justina Sprecher (Waelz). Her paternal grandparents were Martin Welz and Christina Dekowsky (Welz, Heiss); her maternal grandparents were Gottfried Sprecher and Anna Katharina Sokolosky (Sprecher). She had four brothers and a sister, named Johann, Gottlieb, Jakob, Jacob and Louisa. She was the oldest of the six children.
