Elías was born on 20-Jul-1894 in Valdezate (Burgos). Elías' father was Román Martínez (González) and his mother was Petra González (De Frutos). He was the oldest of six children. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Adolfo, Pablo, Leonardo, Felipa and Tomasa. He died, at the age of 87, on 19-Dec-1981 in Cuevas de Provanco (Segovia).
