Eliska? was born about 1843 in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire.  Eliska?'s father was William Shand and his mother was Mary Watson.  His maternal grandparents are William Watson and <Unknown>.  He had a brother and five sisters, named Thomas, Barbara, Mary, Margaret, Elisha and Williamina.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven children.
