Henry was born in 1923.  Henry's father was Earnest Augustus Duke of Cumberland and his mother was Victoria Louise of Prussia.  His paternal grandparents were Earnest Duke of Cumberland and Thyra. He had three brothers and a sister, named Earnest Augustus, George William, Christen and Frederica.  He was the youngest of the five children.
