Earnest Augustus was born in 1914.  Earnest Augustus' father was Earnest Augustus Duke of Cumberland and his mother was Victoria Louise of Prussia.  His paternal grandparents were Earnest Duke of Cumberland and Thyra. He had three brothers and a sister, named George William, Christen, Henry and Frederica.  He was the oldest of the five children.
