José Ramon was born on August 28th, 1848.  His godfather was Jacinto Salvadores and his godmother was Celestina Rodriguez.  José Ramon's father was Blas Yornet and his mother was Pepa Yarza y Benegas.  His maternal grandparents were José María Yarza (Reteguy) and Juana Isabel Benegas. He had six brothers and a sister, named Blas María Maduz, Segundo Blas, José Ramon, José Camilo, Manuel Medardo, José Miguel and María Gertrudis.  He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
