Richard I. "the Lion-Hearted" was born in 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford, England.  Richard I. "the Lion-Hearted"'s father was Henry II. Curtmantle Plantagenet and his mother was Aliénor Aquitaine, d'.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V. "le Bel" Plantagenet and Matilda Normandy, de; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume VIII. (X.) Aquitaine, d' and Eleonore Chatellerault, de. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Henry "the Young King", Geoffrey, John "Lackland", Matilda "Maud", Eleanor and Joan. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William, Geoffrey, Morgan, Marie and Alix.  He died at the age of 42 on April 6th, 1199 in Chalus, Limousin.  He was buried in Fontevraud Abbey.
