Matilda "Maud" was born in 1156 in London, England.  Matilda "Maud"'s father was Henry II. Curtmantle Plantagenet and her mother was Aliénor Aquitaine, d'.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V. "le Bel" Plantagenet and Matilda Normandy, de; her maternal grandparents were Guillaume VIII. (X.) Aquitaine, d' and Eleonore Chatellerault, de. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, Henry "the Young King", Richard I. "the Lion-Hearted", Geoffrey, John "Lackland", Eleanor and Joan. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William, Geoffrey, Morgan, Marie and Alix.  She died at the age of 33 on June 28th, 1189 in Brunswick.
