Thomas was born on January 29th, 1691 in Marshfield, MA.  Thomas' father was Alexander Standish and his mother was Desire Doty (Standish).  His paternal grandparents were Myles Standish and Barbara Mullens or Allen; his maternal grandfather was Edward Doty and his maternal grandmother is Faith Clark (Doty). He had a brother and a sister, named Ichabod and Desire.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Miles, Ebenezer, David , Lydia, Lora, Mercy, Elizabeth and Sarah.
