  Wilhelm, known as Henry, was born on April 6th, 1842 in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.¹ He died at the age of 47 on May 2nd, 1889 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. He was buried at the Nashville National Cemetery, Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.¹¹

    - Heinrich Wilhelm Carl Trauernicht. Corporal, 2nd Missouri Infantry USA. He was the younger brother of Brevet Brig. Gen. Theodore Trauernicht. Henry apparently first lived in Cincinnati with his brother and then followed him to St. Louis, Missouri before the opening of the Civil War. On April 23, 1861 Henry was enrolled in the 2nd Missouri Infantry (3 mos.) by his brother who was a captain in the regiment. When the term expired he reenlisted in the reconstituted 2nd Missouri for three years service and was promoted corporal in Company E. He fought at Camp Jackson, Boonville and Pea Ridge and was severely wounded in the battle of Perryville, Kentucky on October 8, 1862 and lost a leg. He was honorably discharged due to his disability. He became a naturalized citizen in November 1864 and after the war he married Catherine Bersche on September 21, 1865 in St. Louis and shortly thereafter they moved to Nashville, Tennessee where they had thirteen children: Auguste Fredericke, Wilhelm Theodor, Johanne, Heinrich "Pa Heine" Wilhelm, Anna Marie, Theodor Carl Philipp, Louis Carl, Tenny, Catherine Friedericke, Fritz "Fred" Jacob, Edward Martin Luther, Elizabeth Louise and Marie. Henry was the editor of the Tennessee Post from 1873-78 and from 1882 worked at the US custom-house in Nashville. One of his several jobs there included acting as an interpreter. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, George H. Thomas Post No. 1 of Nashville and the Knights of Honor. According to family tradition, when he died the funeral procession included a German band.

  Catherine was born on February 6th, 1847 in Monroe County, Illinois.¹ She died at the age of 69 on March 20th, 1916 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. She was buried at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.¹¹
