Sarah (Sally) was born about 1829 in Vermilion County, Illinois.  Sarah (Sally)'s father was Evert VanVickle and her mother was Sarah White.  Her paternal grandparents were Evert VanVickle and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin White and Susannah Justus. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, Enoch, William, Jackson, John, VanVickle, Elizabeth and Susan.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.

Sarah (Sally) and Andrew were married in a religious ceremony on May 27th, 1849 in Holt County, Missouri.  They had a daughter named Luvisia.
