Catherine was born in 1759 in Rhinebeck, Dutchess, NY, USA.  Catherine's father was Simeon Freer and her mother was Catrina Van Benschoten.  She had six brothers and four sisters, named Elias, Petrus, Simon, Jonathan, Casparus, Johannes, Sara, Elizabeth, Jacomyntje and Geertje.  She is the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
