Petrus was born on January 7th, 1745 in Rhinebeck, Dutchess, NY, USA.  Petrus' father was Simeon Freer and his mother was Catrina Van Benschoten.  He had five brothers and five sisters, named Elias, Simon, Jonathan, Casparus, Johannes, Sara, Elizabeth, Catherine, Jacomyntje and Geertje.  He is the second oldest of the eleven children.
