Margaret was born on February 19th, 1825 in Hector, Schuyler County, New York, United States.1   Margaret's father was Eli Sutherland and her mother was Thankful Russell. She had two sisters named Rachel and Emily Roselha.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 65 on March 19th, 1890 in Union Township, Isabella, Michigan, United States.  She was buried in Mount Pleasant, Isabella County, Michigan, United States.1 2 



Margaret's family with John Q. Johnson

‌Margaret and John Q. were married in a religious ceremony on February 17th, 1844.3   They had four sons and seven daughters, named Warren James, De Witt, De Witt, Jared R., Mary Adelaide, Lousia Ann, Welcome, Harty Jane, Lucy Thankful, Elna E. and Minnie E..
