Charles was born in 1777.  Charles' father was David Dalton Sr and his mother was Susanna Davis.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Dalton Sr and Anne. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Isaac, Isham, Jonathan, David, Elizabeth, Eliza, Nancy, Mary, Nancy and Susanna.  He was the seventh oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 47 in 1824.
