  • RANTOUL – Priscilla "Prill" Berry Smiley, 63, of Rantoul passed away Sunday (May 18, 2008) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
    
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rantoul Christian Church, North Maplewood Drive, Rantoul. The Rev. Glen Crouse will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
    
    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove Ave., Rantoul.
    
    Prill was born May 2, 1945, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a daughter of Fred and Sara (Holmes) Berry. She married Thomas J. Smiley on Aug. 12, 1967, at Newfane, N.Y. He survives.
    
    Also surviving are three children, Amy Luchinski of Champaign, Mark Smiley of Clinton and Sara Farrero of Downers Grove; a brother, the Rev. Daniel Berry of Spring Arbor, Mich.; a sister, Judith Jennejahn of Hamlin, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Leah, Tyler, Nathan, and J.T.
    
    She graduated from Greenville College, Greenville, with a degree in biology and received her master's degree from the University of Illinois in library science. She was employed as a librarian at the University of Illinois for 30 years, retiring in 2004. Prill was a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Society and of Beta Phi Mu, the international honor society for library and informational science.
    
    She was a member of Rantoul Friends of the Library and the Rantoul Community Development Committee, and she was an active member of the Rantoul Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching sports and traveling.
    
    Memorials may be made to the Rantoul Christian Church or The Association for Frontotemporal Dementias.
