Joshua E. was born on October 18th, 1744 in Holliston, Middlesex, Massachusetts.1   Joshua E.'s father was Joshua Prentiss and his mother was Mary Prentiss.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Prentice and Elizabeth Rand; his maternal grandfather was Edmund Angier and his maternal grandmother is Abiel Hovey. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Henry, Thomas, Mary and Mary. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Appleton, Appleton, Elizabeth and Margaret.  He died at the age of 92 on June 24th, 1837 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts.2
