Esther (Estera) Pieniek

Esther (Estera) was born in 1921 in Alexandrova, Poland.¹ Esther (Estera)'s father was Yisrael Meyer Pieniek and her mother was Henna Sarah Dragon. Her paternal grandparents were David Eleazer (Layzer) Pieniek and Rana Temara Braun; her maternal grandparents are Yitzchak Yakov Dragon and Chaya Leah Konskovolsky. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Shloyma, Yitzchak Yakov, Yita (Itta), Chaya Leah and Rana. She is the second oldest of the six children. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named David Joshua, Heinich (Hanoch) (Henry), Moniek (Morris, Moishe), Miriam (Manya) and Baila.

General Notes
- Born in Alexandrova, moved to Lodz, where brother lived, for work. With the liquidation of the Lodz ghetto, she was sent to Aushwitz. She was saved with the invasion of the Russia from the Prussian border in Aug 1945. Returned to Lodz and found Moniek , Henry and Manya Pieniek.
  Emmigrated to France, then to La Paz in Bolivia.
  
  Listed in Yad Vashem's List of Lodz ghetto inmates.
  
  "Esther survived the war and emmigrated with Salek to La Paz, Bolivia where Silvia was born. They all eventually also moved to Jamaica, Queens, NY (in 1961, with brother Heinich and then Aliyah in 1986 to Israel). It should be noted that Salek suffered from severe epilepsy and Silvia, as a child, saved him from several life-threatening attacks. Silvia made aliya (July 1969) and is married to a third generation cousin, Jack Dragon and they have three fabulous girls and two grandchildren. Silvia runs the B&B at Kibbutz Tzorah, but more than that, is a dynamic and motivating force. She reminds me of Golda Meir." Toby Pieniek
