Lousia was born in 1833.  Lousia's father was Hugh Anderson (Virgin) Virden and her mother was Elizabeth Benefield.  Her paternal grandparents were William Virgin and Sophia Unknown; her maternal grandparents were Willis Benefield and Milley Forrest. She had six brothers and a sister, named John, Hence, Hugh, Thomas, Felix, James and Matilda.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.
