George was born in 1591 in Eckington, Derbyshire, England.  George's father was Thomas STANIFORTH and his mother was Margaret SCOTTE.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas STANIFORTH and Jane (UNKNOWN).  He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Jane, Ann and Grace.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.
