Thomas was born on March 23rd, 1766 in Stone, Staffordshire, England.  Thomas' father was Thomas SIMPSON and his mother was Elizabeth BOX.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas BOX and Anna PADMORE.  He had nine brothers and two sisters, named William, John, John, Richard, Thomas, Joseph, Isaac, Jacob, Abraham, Elizabeth and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the twelve children.
