Charles was born in 1824.  Charles' father was John MARSLAND and his mother was Mary CLARE.  His paternal grandparents were John MARSLAND and Martha ALDCROFT.  He had five brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Peter, James, John, Thomas and Hannah.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
