Matthew was born on February 25th, 1702 in Stone, Staffordshire, England.  Matthew's father was John BOX and his mother was Jane DOD.  His paternal grandparents were John BOX and Edith (UNKNOWN).  He had three brothers and a sister, named Andrew, Thomas, George and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the five children.
