Doris STRUZA (STROUZER)

Doris was born on March 15th, 1921. Doris' father was Zigmund STRUZA (STROUZER) and her mother was Louisa Jane SHEPHERD. Her paternal grandparents were Michael STRUZA and Chaya LNU. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Harry, Sidney (Simcha), Rose and Eva. She was the youngest of the five children. She died from cancer at the age of 84 on May 30th, 2005.

  Steve Strouzer:
  Doris was 11 when her father died, and was brought up by her mother as Christian. She was not happy at home, and left home to join the Women's Royal Army Corps during WWII. Sidney bumped into her at an army camp in Shropshire, much to the surprise of both of them.
  
  Either during or straight after the war, Doris married Alf Hider, an ex-marine from South London. Alf was the wine buyer at Wheeler's Oyster Restaurant in London, and then ran an off-license in Peckham. The family moved to Swanley in Kent, and then emigrated to Australia in 1966, as Barbara wanted to be with her boyfriend, later husband, Ray Liskus.
  
  Doris had various jobs in Brisbane, where they settled, and did work for charity as an entertainer.
  
  She succumbed to cancer at the end of her life.
