Agnes was born in 1835 in Paisley. Agnes' father was James Whiteford and her mother was Mary Mathie.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mathie and Euphan Cameron. She had two brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Euphemia, Jeannie, Janet and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 40 on August 5th, 1875 in Paisley.
