Felix's father was Felix Quin and his mother was Annie Young. His paternal grandparents were Felix Quin and Elisabeth McDonald. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, William, Hugh, John, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 90 in 1991 in Kilwinning.
