Helen's father was Thomas Morrison McPike and her mother was Agnes McTaggart Mcclelland. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Richard, Thomas, James, Robert, Margaret and Isabella.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1871 in Tarbolton.
