Janet's father was Robert Mann and her mother was Agnes Campbell Fraser.  Her maternal grandparents were Alexander Fraser and Isabella Adamson. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Alexander, Robert, Elizabeth, Isobel and Agnes.  She was the oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 69 in 1901 in Old Monkland.
