John was born on February 3rd, 1785 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place on February 9th, 1785 in St. Mary's Parish.1  John's father was John ROBINSON (Barber) and his mother was Elizabeth Catherine KIRTON.  His paternal grandfather was John ROBINSON and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Thomas KIRTON and Elizabeth LAMBERT. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, William, David, Joseph, Elizabeth, Magaret and Mary.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died due to a childhood disease at the age of 4 on January 16th, 1790 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.
