Elizabeth was born on July 12th, 1765 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England and her baptism took place on January 11th, 1765.1  Elizabeth's father was Thomas KIRTON and her mother was Elizabeth LAMBERT.  Her maternal grandparents were Josiah LAMBERT and <Unknown>. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Thomas, John, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth and Isabella.  She was the eighth oldest of the nine children.
