John was born in February 1763 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.  John's father was Thomas KIRTON and his mother was Elizabeth LAMBERT.  His maternal grandparents were Josiah LAMBERT and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Thomas, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Isabella.  He was the seventh oldest of the nine children.  He died as an infant at 1 months old in March 1763 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.
