Duke of Brabant Henry of Germany III (Henry of Brabant) 
Henry was born in 1230 in Brabant, Flanders, Belgium.1 Henry's father was Duke of Brabant Henry (The Courages) of Germany II and his mother was Maria von Hohenstaufen. His paternal grandparents were Duke of Brabant Henry of Germany I and Maud d'Alsace; his maternal grandparents were Emperor, King Philip von Hohenstaufen II and Princess of the Byzantine Empire Irini Maria Angelus. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Henry, Philip, Mahaut, Beatrix, Marie and Margaret. He died at the age of 31 on February 28th, 1261 in Leuven, Flemish-Brabant, Flanders, Belgium.2 General Notes
He was Duke of Brabant between 1248 and his death. He was the son of Henry II of Brabant and Marie von Hohenstaufen.
The disputed territory of Lothier, the former duchy of Lower Lorraine, was assigned to him by the German King Alfonso X of Castile. Alfonso also appointed him Imperial Vicar to advance his claims on the Holy Roman Empire.
In 1251, he married Adelaide of Burgundy (c. 1233 – October 23, 1273), daughter of Hugh IV, Duke of Burgundy, by whom he had four children.
He also had one illegitimate son.
