Agnes was born in 1074 in Klosterneuburg, Niederhosterreich, Austria.1   Agnes' father was Emperor Henry Staufen of Germany IV and her mother was Countess Berthe de Maurienne.  Her paternal grandparents were Holy Roman Emperor, King Henry (The Black) of Germany III and Princess of Aquitaine Agnes of Poitou; her maternal grandparents were Count of Savoy Otto de Maurienne I and Margravine Adelheid de Montferrat of Susa. She had three brothers named Konrad, Konrad and Twin.  She was the oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 69 on September 24th, 1143.1
